Fun Speech Contest

1. Purpose：By holding such contest, to motivate international students to learn Chinese, and to provide opportunities for students to practice their speaking skills. Moreover, to encourage students to be creative by holding a fun speech contest rather than a formal speech contest.
2. Target：International students and oversea students in NTOU.
3. Schedule：
   1. Registration：From now on to 2023/5/17.(extended to 5/23)
   2. Stage order：2023/5/24 announced on the website of Mandarin Learning and Education Center.
   3. Date：2023/6/2.
   4. Location：Concert Hall, 2^nd floor, library.
   5. Method：Fill in the Google Sheet before deadline, 20 students at most. ( https://forms.gle/MC7xsEiRFXbtu5ns9 )
4. Topic (choose one)
   1. The most impressive thing you met after coming to Taiwan.
   2. What is the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan?
   3. Mandarin I can’t learn from the textbook.
   4. My travel experience in Taiwan.
5. Evaluation Standard and Method：
   1. Mandarin Learning and Education Center will ask several professional teachers to evaluate.
   2. We will ring the bell at the 4^th minute, ring the bell twice at the 6^th minute. The bell will continue ringing after the 7^th minute.
   3. The duration of your speech limited to 4 min to 6 min 59sec. We will not deduct points if your speech is 6 min to 6 min 59 sec. If your speech is more than 7 min, we will deduct one point.

6. Popularity Award：Students who come to watch the contest (including the participants, the judges and the workers from CLC excluded) will vote.

【International students】

1. 1. 1^st place：NTD 1500 voucher, 1 quota.
   2. 2^nd place：NTD 1000 voucher, 1 quota.
   3. 3^rd place：NTD 800 voucher, 2 quotas.
   4. Popularity Award：NTD 500 voucher, 2 quotas.

【oversea students】

7. 1. 1^st place：NTD 1500 voucher, 1 quota.
   2. 2^nd place：NTD 1000 voucher, 1 quota.
   3. 3^rd place：NTD 800 voucher, 2 quotas.
   4. Popularity Award：NTD 500 voucher, 2 quotas.
8. Copyright：The contest will be recorded, and all contestants must agree to being recorded. The recordings mat be published on the website of the General Education Center and the Mandarin Learning and Education Center.
1. Notice：
   1. All contestants must follow the regulation; General Education Center has the right to cancel the right of the contestant if any violation happened.
   2. The contest will follow the epidemic regulation of NTOU and the CECC. If there is any disaster of other major causes, the General Education Center has the right to cancel the contest. The cancellation will be announced on the website of General Education Center.
   3. The award can be vacancy if the contestants don’t meet the standard of the contest.
   4. Mandarin Learning and Education Center DO NOT offer any fee or stage properties for the contestants. You may use the projector of the concert hall to display video, photo, or recordings. Please bring your own file and let us know whether you need the projector or not when you register in the contest.
